The Winston Chung Global Energy Center (WCGEC) at the University of California, Riverside is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to support applied research in electric power systems. This role is ideal for candidates passionate about developing, demonstrating, and deploying next-generation power system technologies in real-world settings.
Research Focus Areas:
We are looking for candidates with experience or interest in one or more of the following areas:
* Smart grid technologies and real-world technology demonstrations
* Renewable and distributed energy resource integration
* Microgrid design, optimization, and energy management systems
* Energy storage technologies and grid-support functionalities
* Power system resilience, reliability, and climate adaptation
* Cybersecurity for energy delivery infrastructure
* Vehicle-grid integration and transportation electrification
* Testing and field validation of grid-edge technologies, sensors, and controls
* Power systems policy and regulatory frameworks
Qualifications:
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, or a closely related field by the time of appointment. Successful candidates will have experience with applied or field-based power systems research, and strong communication skills with the ability to work in interdisciplinary teams. Preferred qualifications include a background in proposal development and research funding acquisition, experience with technology deployment or field testing, and familiarity with regulatory or policy issues in energy systems.
