Job Summary: The Postdoctoral Fellow provides for an internship and continuation of scholarly activity and research after achieving the PhD or other doctoral degree under the direction of a senior faculty member who serves as a mentor for the postdoctoral appointee.
Additional Department Summary: The Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering Department at The University of Alabama is a seeking candidate for a Postdoctoral position. This position is available to individuals with research interests in building energy efficiency, particularly, thermal energy storage materials and its integration with HVAC. The candidate will be advised by Dr. Jialai Wang (jwang@eng.ua.edu).
Successful candidates will hold a terminal degree in Civil Engineering or a related field and demonstrate a record of academic achievement in research. Initial appointments are for one year, with renewal contingent upon availability of funding.
Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. or other terminal degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
Candidates will need to have completed their Ph.D. or have it completed by the start of employment. Skills and Knowledge: Experience with cement and concrete chemistry, microencapsulation, phase change materials.
Preferred Qualifications: Strong analytical skills, including but not limited to SEM, TEM, XRD, TGA, FITR, DSC, and XPS; Experience with building energy modeling.
