DESCRIPTION
Under general supervision, incumbent will be responsible for fabricating electronic test equipment panels, breakout test boxes, and low-voltage and high-voltage wire harnesses from engineering drawings, performing electronic modifications, troubleshooting test equipment and wiring issues, and utilizing hand and power tools alongside standard test equipment. Reviews electrical schematics, uses manufacturers' product data sheets, and employs MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, or similar software for documentation and communication purposes. Uses engineering experience for electronic components and electrical/electronic theory, including AC and DC voltage, current, power, resistance, impedance, and circuit computations.
Under general supervision, designs and prepares engineering plans and specifications of moderate complexity for novel laboratory equipment and instruments. Plans, designs, and test experiments related to energy storage technology. Assists with programming test equipment to charge and discharge energy storage battery systems to simulate various energy storage use cases. Performs electrical, mechanical, and physical experiments in a fashion that ensures reliable and valid results are achieved.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
5 years of experience in roles emphasizing machining, drilling, grinding, mechanical assembly, and general fabrication practices, coupled demonstrated proficiency and expertise in soldering, handling lab equipment, and fabricating special test equipment.
Working knowledge of engineering principles and methods in order to independently perform professional engineering design work of limited scope and complexity. Experience in the design and operation of Energy Storage systems.
Working knowledge necessary to begin independent application of principles, practices and procedures in the completion of assignments. Able to carry out a task from start to finish while learning what is required along the way.
Organizational abilities and decision-making to prioritize work assignments. Independently and efficiently manage and accomplish tasks across a variety of projects.
Effective written and verbal communication skills. This includes documentation of all work performed in a comprehensive and precise manner.
Ability to work in a collaborative manner, to assist in identifying any challenges or barriers. Able to work alongside interns, undergraduate students, and graduate students with various levels of experience.
Ability to collaborate with engineers to fabricate electronic test equipment panels, breakout test boxes, and low-voltage and high-voltage wire harnesses from engineering drawings.
Ability to apply understanding of electrical schematics and manufacturers' product data sheets to ensure accurate assembly and testing of electronic systems.
Using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, or similar software to document procedures, record test results, and communicate findings to the team.
Ability to perform moderate lifting and maintaining good housekeeping practices in the lab environment.
Demonstrating knowledge of basic electronic components and electrical/electronic theory, including AC and DC voltage, current, power, resistance, impedance, and circuit computations.
Experience with operating and maintaining specialized laboratory equipment and instrumentation used in energy storage testing, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
