Job Description Summary:
The objective is to ensure that innovative and state leading Alternative/Renewable Energy Technology program opportunities are provided to current and future students while planning for continued growth with new student recruiting opportunities. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for building, implementing and growing regionally recognized Alternative/Renewable Energy Technology programs, degrees, and certificates. During the development of the programs the Coordinator will be a member of the Engineering and Engineering Technology faculty teaching classes in those programs.
The Coordinator will assist the Dean in providing leadership and direction to achieve program goals of expanding pathways for students from across the state by collaborating with universities, K-12 institutions, and industry/commercial entities initiatives that focus on renewable energy technology and renewable energy technology related workforce needs. This includes, but is not limited to recruitment, advising and tracking of students, forging university articulation agreements, working with the resource development department in seeking and securing outside funding sources, and assisting in setting strategic goals related to the Blinn College Emerging Technologies/Alternative Energy programs. The coordinator will support the Dean in serving as a liaison to persons involved with the Emerging Technologies/Renewable Energy Programs on the university partner campuses, school district campuses, industry partners, and other involved entities. Some travel will be required with this position.

Essential Duties :
Under the direction of the dean, this position will:
Design and implement academic programs in emerging alternative/renewable energy technologies.
Coordinate the management and operation of the Blinn College Emerging Technologies/Alternative Energy programs on all campuses.
Ensure compliance with requirements and standards of Blinn College, THECB, and SACSCOC. Assist in program coordination, admissions, registration, database maintenance, textbook ordering, advisory meetings, and graduation activities.
Recruit Advisory Board Members. Conduct Advisory Board meetings at a minimum of twice per academic year.
Establish and maintain strong internships and apprenticeship-related opportunities for students.
Facilitate innovative partnerships with industry and universities to develop and maintain effective pathways for efficient transition to the work force and/or to a transfer university.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Master's degree with academic credentials from a regionally accredited college or university in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or other closely related field: OR Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in these disciplines.
Ability to create a positive, team-oriented climate, and to build and maintain professional relationships with all stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, university partners, business and industry partners, and K-12 partners.
Ability to interact effectively as a discipline/program specific leader of an academic team and work collaboratively with others.
Preferred Qualifications:
Three or more years of college or university teaching experience in engineering or an engineering technology field.
Three or more years of full-time industry experience in a alternative/renewable energy technology field or other related field; OR three or more years of collaborative experience with business and industry. Preference will be given to those with solar energy or energy storage technology (battery technology) experience.
