RESEARCH SCIENTIST , MIT Energy Initiative (MITEI) (2 openings), to assume a position in the field of energy system modeling and analysis. MITEI is the energy research hub for MIT focusing on the accelerating energy transition as emerging technology and policy, demographic trends, and economics reshape the landscape of energy supply and demand. To further its mission, MITEI engages in a wide-ranging program of techno-economic and systems-oriented research in six integrated research focus areas spanning electric power, energy storage and low-carbon fuels, transportation, industrial processes, carbon management, and the built environment. Will conduct high-level independent research leading to a steady output of research publications and citations, international conference presentations, and invited talks; advise students and postdoctoral researchers; and contribute to the public policy outreach and industry engagement activities of MITEI. May also be called upon to serve as a journal reviewer or external program advisor.
REQUIRED : a Ph.D. in a physical science or engineering discipline, at least two years of postdoctoral experience, a strong publication record, demonstrated experience leading research activities and mentoring junior researchers and graduate students, comfort working in a multidisciplinary environment, and experience any of the six above-noted focus areas.
