Warren Wilson College is seeking an Electrician with the right aptitude, licensing and experience to provide installation, maintenance and repair of electrical equipment and circuitry including but not limited to, wiring, conduits, switches, outlets, junction boxes, transformers, air condition units, lighting equipment and much more! The Electrician will work closely with students, through supervision and instruction of electrical work including training in safety procedures.
Ideal candidates will possess a strong aptitude for managing coordinating repairs, installation and maintenance of electrical systems, facilities, appliances and related controls under the direction of the Facilities Management Director. The idea candidate should also possess the desire to train and develop a student work crew.

The Electrician plans, supervises and coordinates repairs, installation and maintenance of electrical systems, facilities, appliances and related controls and devices, under the direction of the Facilities Management Director, which includes the training and of a student work crew. The Electrician is also responsible for the supervision of one full-time volunteer.
Supervises and participates in the installation and maintenance and repair of electrical equipment and circuits including wires, conduits, switches, outlets, junction boxes, transformers, motors and generators in facilities such as air conditioning units, lighting equipment and related controls and devices.
Supervises and participates in the isolation and correction of malfunctioning equipment circuits; uses voltmeter, ammeter, ohmmeter and circuit analyzer; cuts, bends and installs conduit; pulls wire and ties in panels to support campus maintenance efforts.
Supervises and participates in the disassembling, cleaning, repairing and reassembling of a variety of electrical appliances and equipment following established procedures; installs and repairs telephone systems
Develops and reviews electrical plans, specifications and equipment for new installation and renovation to ensure compliance with current electrical codes.
Estimates cost of electrical renovations and construction projects; coordinates work schedules with appropriate departments.
Maintains the fire alarm systems for the college as the liaison for the monitoring and maintenance contract with our third party fire alarm contractor.
Assists with development and implementation of sustainable energy solutions for the college.
Assist the WPO with selection and recruitment of student crew members, and provide orientation and training for all student workers to support their professional and educational development.
Coordinate, communicate and monitor student work schedules, and approve student time cards by payroll schedule deadlines.
Instruct student work crew in all areas of electric work.
Ensures orientation and training for student crew, including training in safety procedures.
Maintain professional boundaries with student crew members.
Guide students through the learning and performance goals and evaluations process in a timely manner.
Attend WPO supervisor orientations and retreats, and collaborate with the staff of the WPO to problem solve any student crew issues that may arise.

Five years of electrical experience
One year in a leadership/supervisory capacity.
Must hold a State Limited Contractor’s License.
Demonstrated ability of strong time management, organization and multi-tasking skills
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
