Under the guidance of the Program Director for the Excellence Training Center (ETC), engages in independent and collaborative research with both ETC and outside personnel on the use of materials for energy storage innovation. This research may include materials characterization, analytical testing, or process development as related to batteries and all types of energy storage.
Attends and actively supports scientific seminars, workshops, working team meetings, and other venues for presentations of results and development of collaborative research relationships.
Pursues publication of research in peer reviewed journals and presents research results in local and national forums.
Works with internal and external partners on research projects as part of the technical effort, develops new proposals for research and obtains project support for new and/or continuing research activities.
Participates in talent acquisition for the Excellence Training Centers, including but not limited to recruitment of current YSU faculty members and research students to participate in ETC activities.
Teaches 1-2 classes per semester (no more than 3 per academic year) in the chemical sciences.
Plans, organizes, teaches, and provides feedback to promote and direct student success. Responds to students in a timely manner. Communicates with students, departments and university officials via university provided tools and resources.

Ph.D. degree in Chemistry or closely related discipline or ABD by time of appointment. Demonstrated experience in obtaining external grant funds for research support. College teaching experience in chemical sciences or related. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Experience in Energy Storage research; experience or knowledge of a variety of chemical/materials characterization methods including diffraction, microscopy, computed tomography, and analytical testing. Familiarity with additive manufacturing methods and processes.
