Northwest Edison is seeking qualified candidates for a Solar Superintendent position. This position leads by example. You will be responsible for leading and developing team members while controlling all aspects of the worksite. Critical-thinking, problem-solving, and “people” skills are must-have qualities. This position will be based out of Northwest Edison’s Denver, CO office.
The Superintendent of the Solar and Energy Storage Division is responsible for Northwest Edison’s solar photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage (ES) field operations and project completion. This is a supervisory position leading a team with plenty of hands-on opportunities. The successful candidate will operate 80% of the time in the field and 20% of the time in the office, managing site safety, production goals, and quality standards. This position reports to the Project Manager.
A. Essential Functions
Lead and implement the company’s solar and ES execution and safety plans.
Direct and supervise field personnel and subcontractors on all solar and ES projects and initiatives.
Adhere to all safety protocols, quality control standards, industry best practices, and company policies.
Coordinate construction schedules, budgets, and other project documentation with the Project Manager and Project Coordinator.
Lead troubleshooting and field engineering solutions to maintain project timelines and budgets.
Work closely with the Project Manager to proactively mitigate seen or unforeseen project risks.
Attend meetings and build relationships with clients, owner-representatives, AHJs, and other project stakeholders.
Operate, train others in, and supervise the use of machinery (e.g., telehandler, conduit benders, etc.).
Meet company work schedule and attendance expectations and perform within the physical and environmental demands of the job as described in Section E: Working Conditions.
B. Additional Job Responsibilities
Participate in site walks.
Prepare cost estimates and material takeoffs.
Support the project management team as required.
C. Minimum Qualifications
3+ years of commercial solar PV installation experience, with documented success
2+ years of supervisory experience
Strong knowledge of construction principles, practices, tools, materials, and methods
Ability to accurately interpret construction prints and critically evaluate conditions in the field
Ability to correctly identify issues and improvise acceptable – and sometimes creative – solutions to challenges encountered while on projects
Possess an in-depth knowledge of the NEC and NFPA 70E
Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills
Strong work ethic, personal organization, attention to detail, and time-management skills
Positive attitude and outstanding soft skills (“people skills”)
Working knowledge of computer software, including MS Office programs
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Ability to travel approximately 80% of the time (local and overnight)
D. Preferred Qualifications
Electrical Journeyman’s license (issued by a western US state, preferably CO)
NABCEP PVIP certification
OSHA 30-hour card
Resident of Denver, Colorado
E. Working Conditions
The Essential Functions of this job are generally performed in an office setting or out in the field. Office work will require the employee to regularly sit or stand for extended periods of time. Field work will require the employee to be exposed to the elements, as well as stand, walk, climb, bend, and lift. Noise levels in the field can vary.
