Massasoit Library (Brockton Campus) is seeking an innovative, self-directed Library Assistant who enjoys interacting with students and working on a variety of projects. The assistant collaborates with library staff to provide a variety of services focused on delivering convenient and seamless access to library materials and on enhancing the visitor experience.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Provides responsive services at the circulation desk and creates a welcoming atmosphere for the campus community
Supervises the daily workflow of circulation duties, including student workers
Helps provide training and materials for circulation employees, including student workers
Collaborates with library technical services to manage the ILS, including course reserves
Participates in the interlibrary loan process, including managing MLS delivery and Commonwealth Catalog requests
Assists students with the use of library technologies, including printers, scanners, and the library catalog
Participates in consortia activities (HELM) including meetings and professional development opportunities
Assists with the creation of library directional and informational materials, including collection displays
Other duties as assigned

Minimum Entrance Requirements:
1 year minimum library experience
Strong customer service orientation with ability to cheerfully and tactfully engage with diverse populations
Experience in leading long-term projects within circulation department
Ability to demonstrate written and oral communication skills
Good organizational skills and ability to work accurately with detail
Ability to stand for long periods of time, lift 30 lbs, and bend & reach low and high areas of shelving
Proficiency in technology basic troubleshooting including equipment and software issues
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Google docs
Supervisory experience, preferably with student workers
Familiarity with the any of the following: academic course reserves, OER (Open Educational Resources), answering simple reference questions, LibGuides and/or website content management
Ability to design and execute displays and exhibits regularly
AFSCME union position, full-time, state funded with benefits
Hours: 37.5 per week, Monday-Friday between 7:30 am to 4:00 pm with occasional nights and weekends as needed
Worksite: Assignments will include all Massasoit sites.
