In this role, you will collaborate on applied research and demonstration efforts aimed at the resilience of the built environment and grid-interactive buildings. The position requires an excellent ability to think innovatively and independently, to explore, accomplish, test and demonstrate advances in (and the connections between) various aspects of resilience and grid interactive energy efficient buildings.
We are looking for a strong background in building resilience and grid-interactive energy efficient buildings. You will participate in the formulation of ideas needed for grant writing, assisting in the grant writing process, and assisting with technical leadership of on-going research activities.
What You Will Do:
Collaborate with other BTUS scientists, sponsors and other institutions to conduct applied research on building resilience and grid interactive buildings.
Interface with Principal Investigators, program leaders, sponsors, external collaborators and stakeholders.
Engage with industry stakeholders and policymakers to identify research needs and pathways for disseminating scientific research to create market impacts.
Document work and results in the form of journal papers, conference proceedings, and technical reports.
Present work and results at scientific meetings.
May direct the work of technical support staff or students.
What is Required:
Ph.D. in Engineering, Physics, or related fields and experience in Building Energy Efficiency and Resilience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with building energy data analysis for individual buildings and portfolios of buildings.
Experience with engaging industry to characterize the current state of the art, identify research needs and frame research questions.
Knowledge of building resilience and grid-interactive buildings including building demand-side energy efficiency and distributed energy resources (DER) technologies.
Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research, interpret data and compose follow-up analyses.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability (through publications and presentations) to effectively present scientific research in both oral and written formats.
What We Desire:
Supervisory experience and oversight of the work other technical and operational staff.

This is a full time, M-F, exempt from overtime pay (monthly paid), 2 year, Term appointment with the possibility of extension for up to a maximum of 5 years based upon satisfactory job performance, continuing availability of funds and ongoing operational needs.
