Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Energy Management Control Specialist for IPO-Facilities Utilities. This position reports to the Energy Management Supervisor. The Energy Management Control Specialist serves as a senior-level controls specialist that works independently or oversees, directs, and instructs mechanics and/or outside contractors in the performance of a wide range of energy management system duties and high-level mechanical functions.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
Trains, directs, and works with mechanics in the troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of pneumatic, electric, electronic, and direct HVAC equipment controls on various systems in Newark campus buildings.
Provide guidance, instruction and work with Mechanic in inspections, repairs, calibrations, or replacement of used and defective operating controls on a regular maintenance schedule.
Instructs in the use of a variety of calibrating tools, computers, pneumatic equipment, electrical testing equipment, and measuring devices.
Receives all emergency and non-emergency EMS services calls and directs mechanic to respond.
Responsible for preventative maintenance and detection of improper and/or faulty operation of equipment.
Reports questionable conditions to EMS Supervisor.
Maintains a regular building EMS equipment maintenance schedule.
Assist plans and coordinates the installation of energy management systems. Meter and monitor various types of systems and submit findings to EMS Supervisor for implementation of energy conservation measures.
Maintains inventory of equipment, materials and supplies. Responsible for providing to the EMS Supervisor the estimated work, time and listing of needed materials for controls replacement or repairs.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
Two years of related experience performing mechanical/electrical maintenance and repair work on commercial-/industrial-type HVAC equipment; and monitoring, maintaining, repairing, and programming building energy management automated control systems
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be able to work independently
Must be a self-starter with supervisory abilities, have good communication and computer skills
Have full understanding of performing complex mechanical and electric, electronic control maintenance and repair work.
Knowledge of work safety rules
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be willing to travel, when necessary, to sites throughout New Jersey for business demands.
