Lane Electric Cooperative (LEC) is seeking a competent and enthusiastic candidate to assume the senior management position of Manager, Member Services & Public Affairs. LEC (www.laneelectric.com) is a stable and progressive organization serving 13,000 electric consumer/members located in western Oregon. The utility currently employs 48 professionals and has a geographically diverse service area covering 2,600 square miles of Lane County. LEC is financially sound with annual revenue of $25.9 million. The Cooperative is a CFC borrower. The Cooperative receives most of its wholesale power from the Bonneville Power Administration and is a member of the Pacific Northwest Generating Cooperative (i.e., G&T).
The Manager, Member Services & Public Affairs is part of a five-member senior management team that reports directly to the General Manager. The position serves as the principle communications, marketing and spokesperson for the cooperative; and as well oversees and manages LEC’s energy conservation programs. Duties also include regular reports and interaction with the Cooperative’s seven-member board of directors. The Manager, Member Services & Public Affairs has an integral part in the development of the goals and initiatives included in the utility’s strategic plan. Being a team player with ability to develop constructive relationships is very important.
The successful candidate must be a person of very high integrity and have proven leadership skills. They must demonstrate excellent communication skills (i.e., oral, written), including competencies and experience in public speaking, as well as digital and electronic media. Candidates must have a minimum of five (5) years progressive experience in public relations, marketing, or mass communication. Electric utility experience and knowledge is preferred. Applicants must have at least five (5) years supervisory experience, with senior management background preferred. It is desirable that candidates have an interest in advancement within LEC and considered in LEC’s succession planning.
LEC headquarters is located in Eugene at the southern end of the Willamette Valley. Portland is 100 miles north via Interstate 5. Pacific Coast beaches are an hour’s drive to the west, and the crest of the Cascade Mountains is a similar distance to the east. Both the Willamette and McKenzie rivers flow through the Eugene-Springfield area. It's an ideal location for those wanting to live in a picturesque area that has an abundance of recreational opportunities. Eugene is also home of the University of Oregon with its availability of education, athletic and cultural resources.
