The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities invites applications to a full-time, tenure-track position in the area of energy science and engineering beginning Fall 2020. We encourage applications from individuals who apply fundamental principles of mechanical engineering to address societal energy needs. Application areas of particular interest include but are not limited to: renewable energy science and technology; energy conversion and storage; and clean combustion. The appointment is expected to be at the Assistant Professor level, but in exceptional cases applicants may be considered for a tenured appointment.
Applicants are expected to hold, or complete by Fall 2020, a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (or a closely related discipline), and have demonstrated the potential to conduct a vigorous and high-profile research program as evidenced by their publication record and supporting letters from recognized leaders in the field. The ability to instruct effectively at both the graduate and undergraduate levels to a diverse group of engineering students is required. The candidate’s expertise and documented research and teaching activities must demonstrate a strong potential to enhance the department’s research and teaching missions.
