The Health Science Program at Sacramento State currently has over 500 undergraduate majors and expressed interest students. The Health Science Program offers three undergraduate professional areas of study: Healthcare Administration, Community Health Education, and Occupational Health & Safety. Our Bachelors of Science undergraduate program is designed to give all students a well-rounded education in health science, while providing strong preparation in one of the three professional areas of study. The Health Science Program is developing a Master of Public Health program designed to serve our regional partners, educating future leaders in public health. Our program and faculty are dedicated to serving regional partners. The Health Science faculty works as a congenial and cohesive unit.
The Health Science Program currently is part of the Department of Kinesiology and Health Science, and will become the Department of Health Science as of Summer 2019. The program is housed in the University's College of Health and Human Services, and is a participating program in College's new Center for Health Professions, Policy & Practices.
- Teaching in the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) concentration and where needed in the Health Sciences core coursework - Advising students and supervising student fieldwork - Establishing an original, timely record of scholarly and creative work - Contributing to University and Community service
Education: Doctorate in Occupational Safety/Health, Public Health, Health Science or closely related field. ABD candidates will be considered. If ABD, candidates will be required to complete the doctoral degree by August 2019.
Knowledge and Abilities:
- Candidates must have demonstrated teaching experience in an occupational safety and health program or closely related field. - Candidates must be effective teachers and scholars who can teach in one or more areas such as injury prevention, safety management, occupational health, general safety, safety laws & regulations, injury investigation, epidemiology, or data analysis. - Capacity and willingness to utilize instructional technology in teaching. -Ability to interact and work cooperatively in a manner that promotes collaboration within the department, college, and across campus.
-A Master of Science in Safety, Health, or closely related field. -Academic background necessary to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Safety and Health or Health Science. -Successful university teaching experience. -Work experience with diverse populations in occupational safety or health industry sectors (private employers, insurance, non-governmental organization, local, state, or federal agency, etc.). -Ability to work cooperatively in diverse academic program. -Demonstrated experience teaching both online and classroom settings. -Demonstrated college classroom and online curriculum development experience. -Professional certifications such as ASP, CSP, or CIH.
