As a Manager, Fire and Life Safety, you will:
Manage fire and life safety programs throughout the Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) healthcare, research, and administrative enterprise. Develop and implement programs that meet regulatory requirements and best practices. Develop and conduct educational programs for the MSK community. Serve as the subject matter expert and program leader, conduct compliance and risk assessments, and develop and implement policies and procedures to comply with fire and life safety regulatory requirements. Work closely with other EHS staff and MSK departments and personnel. Ensure safety and compliance of all applicable fire and life safety requirements by means of inspections, reports, metrics, institutional committee memberships, and instructional workshops and training programs.
You have: A Bachelors degree in Safety, Environmental Science, or closely related field. Masters degree preferred. At least 4-7 years of relevant experience with a strong background and experience in fire and life safety programs. FDNY Issued F 89 (Fire and Life Safety Director Class B) Certificate of Fitness w/in 6 Months of hire required. CIH or CSP strongly preferred. Strong working knowledge of federal, state and local regulations and relevant codes, including FDNY, Joint Commission, CMS, and NYS Department of Health requirements. Ability to act decisively when responding to emergency situations. Strong working knowledge of position requirements and demonstrated ability to organize, track, and prioritize work responsibilities and regulatory deadlines. The capability of working independently and as a team member to develop and implement programs with EHS staff and MSK departments. Skill in assessing and implementing safety compliance programs and working with a diverse clientele of facility managers and building occupants. Demonstrated leadership in developing and managing position requirements including the ability to motivate staff and develop performance measures to maximize productivity and work quality. Highly service oriented with good interpersonal, written and oral communication skills including the ability to develop and deliver concise documentation, presentations and trainings. Ability to organize and lead effective meetings. Competency in the use of computers, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access and email/Internet programs. Ability to develop complex MS Excel spreadsheets to track and organize multiple operational activities including the integration of multiple data sources use of statistical calculations and formulas and develop operational reports.
