Support the UMHS Sustainability Program to identify, coordinate and advance environmental sustainability efforts at the clinical enterprise.
Work with a variety of departments to support the University and UMHS sustainability efforts and implement new environmental sustainability initiatives.
Identify and prioritize areas for further environmental effort. Participate and / or take lead roles on special projects such as food composting, blue wrap recycling, the office sustainability program, and product evaluations.
Educate the UMHS community on best practices in environmental sustainability and UMHS and University initiatives. Represent UMHS sustainability Program at public sustainability events.
Respond to inquiries from UMHS community regarding environmental concerns.
Assist in preparing periodic or special guidelines, manuals, newsletters, web content, summaries and bulletins.
Assist in procurement, review, and project management of contracts and service agreements with outside vendors related to waste reduction, energy conservation and other sustainability efforts.
Comply with all occupational health, safety, and environmental rules and regulations, and UMHS policies and guidelines.
A Bachelor’s degree in environmental sustainability, environmental science, natural resources, engineering field or equivalent and 2 to 3 years related experience.
Reasonable knowledge of modern environmental principles, practices, and rules/regulations is necessary.
Computer experience and some familiarity with software programs is necessary.
Experience with public speaking and development of communication material.
Some experience in program development and project management is desirable.
Administrative and functional supervision is received from Associate Hospital Director for Operations and Ancillary Services
