We are seeking a Postdoctoral Appointee to conduct experimental electrochemical materials science R&D for energy storage research. On any given day, you may be called on to:
Prepare coin and pouch sized cells in a glove box or dry room
Process data from potentiostat and battery cycler software using Matlab or Excel
Participate in electrochemical testing of materials
Contribute to preparation, publication and presentation of scientific findings
PhD in a chemistry, materials science, physics, or related engineering field plus a bachelor's in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM)
Experience in the field of electrochemical energy storage
Experience with electrochemical testing
Experience fabricating electrochemical cells
Able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance
Experience with a glove box
Experience with battery fabrication (coin or pouch cells)
Experience with lithium metal anode cycling
Experience with Matlab programming
Experience with electrochemical impedance spectroscopy
Experience characterizing mechanical behavior of materials
Experience with thin film deposition such as sputtering and atomic layer deposition
Experience with electrolyte preparation
Experience with materials characterization (any of the following: X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance, gas sampling, mass spectroscopy, inductively coupled plasma, etc.)
Experience with in-situ electrochemical techniques
The Nanoscale Sciences Department conducts collaborative leading-edge research that advances the understanding of materials at the nanoscale and enables the collaborative development of creative solutions for Sandia's broad and evolving National Security and Energy Missions.
