The Postdoc will lead the synthetic development of all components needed to crystallize 2D perovskites as single-layers. Such components include organic small molecules as well as polymer surfactants. The Postdoc will also lead the structural characterization efforts, in some cases at synchrotron light sources, where the ultimate goal is to develop methods to understand and control the reconfigurability of such materials while under direct stimulation, e.g., by light.
The Molecular Foundry Division leads a multi-PI theme capability development program in understanding the reconfigurability of 2D perovskites, an important class of semiconductor nanomaterials with the potential to advance next-generation energy technologies.
What You Will Do:
Provide technical leadership in organic, polymeric, and perovskite nanocrystal materials design and synthesis relevant structuring liquids.
Collaborate with Foundry PIs and Postdocs to understand in depth the fundamental principles underpinning the reconfigurability of dimensionally reduced perovskite nanomaterials, in and out of equilibrium.
Play a key role in maintaining a robust and inclusive safety culture.
Publish in peer reviewed journals; contribute to scientific research papers, reports, review articles; present oral reports.
What is Required:
Ph.D. in organic chemistry, nano-chemistry, physical chemistry, or polymer chemistry.
Extensive experience in synthetic chemistry of colloidal nanomaterials.
Demonstrated knowledge or expertise in characterization methods of nanoscale materials.
Demonstrated ability to conduct and perform collaborative research and effectively interact with a broad range of colleagues.
Demonstrated ability to accurately and eloquently represent and promote scientific projects to audiences of diverse technical backgrounds.
Strong publication record in top-rated scientific journals, with extensive experience in the preparation and handling of scientific manuscripts, reports and research posters.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to guide and train junior researchers.
