PhD or foreign equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications :
PhD (or foreign equivalent) in Civil, Mechanical, Aerospace or other related engineering fields. Publication record in quality journals in fluid mechanics and turbulence simulation. Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in high-fidelity computational fluid dynamics for complex turbulent flows. Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable: parallel computing; large-eddy simulation; wind turbine and farm modeling techniques; immersed boundary methods; fluid structure interaction algorithms; level-set methods for simulating ocean waves; data-driven flow simulations.
Brief Description of Duties :
The Postdoctoral Associate will assist the Principal Investigator in the department of Civil Engineering. The incumbent will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University. Therefore, having e xperience working in a collaborative, cross-disciplinary research environment is imperative. The incumbent will assist with the following research projects:
Large-eddy simulation of land-based wind farms in complex terrain.
Large -eddy simulation of offshore wind farms including atmosphere/wave/structural interactions.
Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations. May also assist in grant writing.
Other duties as assigned, which may include attending Scientific Conferences and Meetings.
