Summary You have a passion for meaningful storytelling that motivates people to engage and take action. You are often referred to as an “idea machine”. The Sr. Manager, Content Strategy and Creative is a critical member of the Communications team helping to shape and enhance ZERO TO THREE’s messaging and brand voice. You will lead the development of high quality, compelling digital and print content including web, email, social media, graphics, video, print publications, event presentations, etc. The Sr. Manager, Content Strategy and Creative has a sharp eye for stunning design and thinks outside of the box to create fresh, bold, and beautiful content that breaks through the norm and positions ZERO TO THREE as the authoritative voice for the health and well-being of babies and toddlers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Work closely with the Chief Communication Officer to develop a comprehensive content strategy and roadmap that provides a clear plan for elevating ZERO TO THREE's expansive knowledge, resources, and initiatives
Lead a team in the “soup-to-nuts” development of high-quality digital and print content that drives audience engagement and growth, including, writing, editing, graphic design, video production, etc.
Oversee editorial planning and calendar, content strategy implementation, and posting on all ZERO TO THREE digital channels, including social media, websites and email.
Creatively leverage different publishing formats (video, podcasts, infographic, etc.) to engage our primary audiences – parents, professionals, policymakers
Working with the broader communications team, help determine the most effective format of content we produce (for the right channel and the right audience)
Work with the broader communications team to develop promotion strategies for content and integrated campaigns; and establish a strategy to test various hypotheses for and optimization of messaging, creative and calls-to-action for all programs
Integrate SEM/SEO & paid search into digital strategy and campaign initiatives
Oversee Google AdWords campaign
Establish editorial planning process and content creation standards providing guidance across the organizations and lead day-to-day
Perform SEO assessments/audits of ZERO TO THREE’s primary website and microsites from both an on-page and off-page perspective, including technical site components, keyword research, content strategy, and user experience
Establish a system to consistently codify learnings and analysis from each campaign to increase impact and performance of future campaigns
Troubleshoot and remediate user Interface issues on all digital channels. Work with IT and technical consultant as needed for backend issues.
Keep track of industry trends on brand publishing, content strategy and audience growth.
Essential Skills and Experience
8+ years of experience with a strong track record of design leadership including staff leadership, operational process leadership, and design innovation leadership
Keen understanding of how to craft an editorial calendar and what makes for good content, including demonstrable modern and innovative storytelling techniques
Excellent strategic thinking skills and the ability to develop and direct content strategy.
Experience driving adoption of new ideas and concepts, and pioneering new approaches to content development and promotion
Strong judgment and the ability to work and manage teams and decisions effectively under deadline pressure.
Excellent relationship-management and agency-management skills.
Excellent writer with full grasp of grammar, spelling and style rules, compliance with standards guidelines, and factual accuracy are critical.
Exceptional organizational skills, keen attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively against timelines
Exceptional project management skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Experience with website administration, including WordPress and content entry
Experience with e-mail marketing systems, such as Act-On, Pardot, or equivalent
Strong work ethic and a customer service orientation
Proven success collaborating with cross-functional teams to manage complex projects across diverse groups or organizations
A self-starter, entrepreneurial attitude who can juggle multiple tasks with limited support staff
Excellent communication and presentation skills, particularly with senior executives and external partners
Strong Word, PowerPoint and Excel skills
Photography and video editing skills, graphics design capabilities a plus
Portfolio of work that shows examples of integrated campaigns

Education Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in advertising, communications, journalism, graphic design History, English, research, or related field
Physical Requirements While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is constantly required to use finger dexterity as well as sufficient hand dexterity to use a computer keyboard and be capable of reading a computer screen. Also may need to remain seated for long periods of time, have the ability to perform repetitive motions and reach for objects. Employee is frequently required to hold a writing instrument, communicate verbally, and hear well enough to detect nuances and receive detailed information. The may be required to grasp objects, push and pull objects, bend, stand, walk, squat or kneel. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision for data preparation or analysis, and expansive reading.
The work conditions described here is representative of those an employee encounters while performing this job. Depending on work location, the incumbent will typically work indoors in a heated and air-conditioned office, with a mixture of natural, incandescent and fluorescent light with low to moderate noise levels or be subject to working conditions conducive to a home office. When travel is expected, the incumbent will be exposed to outside environmental conditions during those times.
