The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the Financial Reporting Manager with a wide variety of functions which include transactional processing, financial analysis, annual budget development and monitoring, cost allocation, and annual audit supportand the implementation of financial and compliance controls. This individual is responsible for supervising the preparation of routine and ad-hoc reports by staff accountant in addition to supporting other team members on special, sometimes time-sensitive, projects.
MAJORACCOUNTABILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Assist with the periodic, month-end, year-end and audit close functions
·Review staff proposed journal entries and approve for GAAP standards and statements
·Ensure balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly and in accordance with policy to confirm proper financial statement balances
·Perform income statement analytics and provide variance explanations
·Respond to audit requests timely to ensure deadlines are met
Develop, implement and maintain reports that contain automated and integrated methodologies
·Perform high level and complex analysis that may include confidential data
·Create models and projections to support the Executive team and other departments in decision making
·Participate in peer of review of regular reporting as well as newly created reports to ensure most current techniques and formats are used
Collaborate with other members of the Financial Services Division to support overall department goalsand objectives
·Assist in budget preparation and/or review
·Perform accounting and tax research to support conclusions
·Make recommendations for process and reporting improvement for management review
·Assist with special projects as needed
Interact with other departments to discuss, implement and review NOMCC policies and procedures to ensure that all parties are aware of NOMCC requirements and expectations to achieve operational efficiency.
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Governmental accounting experience preferred. Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.Jet Enterprise, SAP Crystal Reports or other BI and reporting tools experience preferred. Ungerboeck Software a plus. Supervisory experience required.
