Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Microelectronics Research Center at Iowa State University is seeking applications for a Scientist II at part-time. The research focus of this position is the theoretical investigation of the optical electronic properties of new materials for sensors, OLED devices and solar cells.
This position is responsible for serving as a principle investigator (PI) to write and submit grant proposals, conduct research and develop national and international collaboration. Other responsibilities include writing high quality scientific publication, presenting research, attending conferences, and staying current on latest developments in related theory and experimentation. In addition, this position will provide training to students and professional staff. The ability to conduct simulations and propose physical explanations of new results, and then suggest next generation of devices is a vital part of the job.

Required Education and Experience:
Ph.D. or other professional degree and 7 years of related experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Ph.D. in Physics or closely related field.
Experience with relevant software packages for simulating electronic and optical materials.
Experience serving as a Principle Investigator on research projects.
Experience writing grant proposals and securing funding from external organizations.
