This position serves as the Industrial Hygiene Programs Administrator within the UC Davis Health office of Environmental Health & Safely (EH&S) and also serves as a healthcare subject matter expert for industrial hygiene programs UC system-wide. Direct supervision is by the UC Davis Health Director of Environment, Safety, and Occupational Health (ESOH) but also provides support to the UC Office of the President Executive Director of EH&S. Work independently under general direction from the Director of ESOH to develop and implement Health System industrial hygiene, food/water safety programs, and construction/renovation risk management expertise. Provide oversight and monitoring of the UCDH EH&S illness prevention programs and create model programs that can be used in healthcare throughout the UC system. This position will serve as the EH&S Administrator on Duty (AOD) providing 24/7 response on a rotational basis.
Bachelor's Degree in Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Public Health or similar relevant fields and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience administering an industrial hygiene program, performing exposure assessments, analyzing and storing data, performing statistical analysis.
Experience with food/water environmental health programs
Experience in controlling infection risk from dust and mold
Experience with relevant Cal/OSHA, Cal/EPA and Joint Commission requirements.
Knowledge of industrial hygiene, environmental health, and infection control practices.
Working knowledge of Joint Commission relevant audit processes
In-depth knowledge of how hospitals operate safely and in compliance with all laws, regulations, accreditation standards, hospital policies and procedures. .
Experience providing EH&S response to emergency situations.
Skills in use of but no limited to: Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access; databases, email systems, internet and etc.
Advanced level verbal and written communication skills.
Advanced interpersonal skills.
Certified Industrial Hygiene (CIH) designation.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation.
Advanced degree in Health and Safety or Industrial Hygiene
EH&S-related experience working in an academic or healthcare setting with progressive responsibilities.
Valid California Drivers License.
Must be able to work special work schedules, including variable schedules on evening and night shift.
Must be able to work occasional overtime.
