Berkeley Lab's Information Technology (IT) Division has an opening for a Senior PeopleSoft Developer to join their Financial Systems Group!
In this role, you will participate in the development of new systems and provide technical enhancement, maintenance, and support for existing systems, in support of the Lab's Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO). This position will collaborate with customer representatives to define requirements and apply technical knowledge to determine the best approach for the implementation of software solutions to problems.
The Financial Systems Management Group develops new functions, maintains and supports Oracle PeopleSoft financials system, Huron technologies (Grants, IRB, IACUC), Sunflower asset management system, Alfresco document management system and a few other ancillary systems.
This position will be hired at a level commensurate with the business needs; and skills, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate.
What You Will Do:
Develop new functions, maintain and support existing Oracle PeopleSoft financials system, implement third-party application packages, and develop brand new applications.
Design, develop, implement innovative and technically sound solutions for Financial Systems including Travel and Expense Management, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Asset Management, Billing, Budget Planning, Document Imaging, eProcurement, General Ledger, Grants Management, Procurement Card, Project Costing, and Purchasing.
Develop state of the art integration solutions that connect cloud-based and local applications.
Design and develop mobile solutions based on PeopleSoft fluid technology.
Provide operations and maintenance support of system functions, debug and fix system issues in a timely manner.
Provide operations support to ensure the smooth running of system functions and scheduled jobs.
Consult with customer representatives in various contexts to define information processing requirements and contribute to the development of policies, procedures, concepts, techniques, plans, and objectives.
Coordinate with peers and customers to refine system designs.
Develop and perform appropriate unit and integrated system tests, using debugging tools and techniques, to verify conformance of product to specifications.
Prepare documentation as required by department standards and as needed to communicate technical information.
Work on and resolve problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
Keep the Financial Systems group lead informed of progress and/or problem areas.
Respond quickly to customer requests for data, ad-hoc reports, and mandated changes to systems.
What is Required:
Bachelor's Degree in a related field and a minimum of 8 years of progressively complex professional business application software engineering experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with PeopleSoft (version 9.2) and PeopleTools (version 8.54 or higher).
Advanced knowledge of PeopleSoft applications programming tools and technologies including Fluid technology.
Extensive familiarity with one or more of PeopleSoft financials and supply chain system modules: Travel and expense, Security, Procurement, General Ledger, Accounts Payables, Asset Management, Project Costing and Commitment control.
Experience with developing and maintaining state of the art integration solutions that connect cloud based and local applications.
Experience with supporting in-house and/or cloud-based PeopleSoft financial applications.
Expert knowledge in developing high performance SQLs on Oracle database.
Experience with Unix/Linux OS.
Outstanding oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to clearly convey technical information through well-written and concise documentation.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
What We Desire:
Experience with change assistant to apply PUM updates and upgrade PeopleTools versions.
Experience with PeopleSoft Test Framework.
Experience with scripting and debugging in Unix/Linux environments.
Experience with PS Query, nVision and XML Publisher.
Experience with IBM DataStage.
Experience with the Huron (Click Commerce) Sponsored Research Administration systems.
Experience with Alfresco document management system.
