Job Requisition Number: 26636. This position plays a critical role in the successful operations management of four industry-supported research centers at UC Berkeley: The Berkeley Center for Negative Capacitance Transistors (BCNCT), the Berkeley Device Modeling Center (BDMC), the Semiconductor Research Corporation JUMP Applications and Systems driven Center for Energy-Efficient Integrated NanoTechnologies (ASCENT), and the Berkeley Emerging Technologies Research (BETR) Center. Members of these research centers include worldwide industrial leaders in electronics and semiconductor technologies.
The position requires balancing multiple, often simultaneous, activities and the ability to prioritize work to ensure that tasks are completed on time. The position provides a wide range of administrative duties and responsibilities in support of the BCNCT, BDMC and ASCENT Faculty Director, Prof. Sayeef Salahuddin, and the BETR Executive Director, Dr. Michael Bartl. The position requires a high level of professionalism, excellent interpersonal, and communication skills, the ability to support and work in a dynamic environment, and a high degree of independence and ownership to ensure quality work is delivered and activities are performed in an organized manner.
50% CENTER OPERATIONS:
*Manages the comprehensive data acquisition process for the submission of required reports under the membership terms. Edits data submitted by multiple faculty to develop complete and thorough reports.
*Administers center databases to ensure appropriate data is being captured and reported in a timely and compliant manner.
*Represents each center and serves as a liaison for all constituents of the centers.
*Works closely with the ERSO Research Support Offices to coordinate proper programmatic administrative activities and coordinate appropriate charging of expenditures.
*Administers Webex and other types of online video/conference tools.
*Administers the centers’ websites by updating and organizing content. Also maintains user access rights to privileged content and areas of the centers’ website.
*Functions as a resource on issues such as researching membership invoices and payments. Researches complex financial discrepancies, escalated customer service problems and vendor concerns.
30% Member Relations and Cultivation:
*Prepares and responds to requests from member organizations. Manages reporting deadlines and provides assistance in retrieving and organizing pertinent information.
*Manages activities related to the development of future memberships or collaborative opportunities.
*May attend executive meetings for the purpose of taking, creating and distributing notes or minutes.
*Designs and drafts organizational content for website and social media; participates in design, enhancement and drafting of research related websites.
20% EVENT PLANNING:
*Independently develops and implements protocols for regular meetings and conferences on an on-going basis. Makes recommendations for streamlining the planning process.
*Manages all center events including board meetings. Manages the RFP process, negotiates terms and conditions with hotels and other vendors, develops request for quotes and proposes recommendations. Manages all reimbursement activity associated with hosting events and ensures compliance with all related UC Entertainment Policies.
*Organizes seminars, including room reservation, computer and Webex set-up, and seminar announcements. Coordinates seminar and speaker logistics (including travel and reimbursements).*************************************This is a one-year contract position********************************
