The Retro-Commissioning Engineer will be responsible for developing, implementing and managing a comprehensive campus-wide energy retro-commissioning and building audit program and applying best practices in energy management for existing and new facilities. The goal of the Retro-Commissioning process is to ensure that systems are designed, installed, functionally tested, and capable of being operated and maintained in the most energy efficient manner This position will support the University Energy Manager in developing short and long-term strategies for energy reductions. Strategies should enable the university to meet or exceed any energy reduction requirements of the UNC System, the State of North Carolina, applicable agencies of the Federal Government or ECU. Additionally, this position will provide input to the FCAP Engineers in their facilities assessments. The Retro-Commissioning Engineer may directly supervise Energy Utilities Specialist, HVAC Technicians, or interns that may become resources to this position.

Bachelor’s degree in the engineering discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Facilities Services is a unit in the Campus Operations Division, which is a part of a broad, diverse division of Administration and Finance that includes all aspects of facilities management at East Carolina University. East Carolina University is the third largest university in the University of North Carolina system with approximately 28,000 full-time students and a staff of approximately 6,000. Facilities Services primary purpose is to plan and perform corrective and preventive maintenance functions on all building structures and equipment and utility infrastructure. Corrective maintenance returns equipment to optimal design performance after failure or upon degradation from age, adverse operation conditions, etc. Preventive maintenance minimizes equipment failures and reduces corrective maintenance.
