The Simulation Innovation and Modeling Center (SIMCenter) was established in 2013, made possible by a $5 million gift from Honda R&D Americas, Inc. and a funding match from Ohio State. Since its inception as an interdisciplinary research center for virtual simulation and modeling, SIMCenter has cemented Ohio State's reputation as a world leader in innovating virtual engineering methods for real-world manufacturing. We research and apply computer-aided engineering techniques to the design and manufacturing of advanced product and production concepts, while spurring the creation of innovative engineering solutions using primarily physics-based modeling. Our forward-thinking, multidisciplinary teams of Ohio State students, faculty, and staff work closely with industry and agency partners to create innovative, simulation technology research projects. Projects span diverse applications such as software validation of autonomous vehicles, joining of lightweight materials in vehicle bodies, noise reduction in dishwashers and drones, and improvement of energy capture from wind turbines. SIMCenter also supports a range of educational initiatives aimed at students and working professionals to better prepare them for using simulation tools in their careers. As a leading research unit within the College of Engineering, we rely on our skilled staff who make our operations possible. As our center advances, we've recognized the need for additional staff to help us succeed. For these reasons, we are excited to announce we are seeking an adept professional to manage our front office functions and support the inner workings of our day-to-day operational and program needs.
The Program Assistant will provide high-level administrative and strategic support to the Director and Associate Director for the Simulation Innovation and Modeling Center (SIMCenter). This position will coordinate administrative functions and assists SIMCenter leadership and personnel to execute projects that effectively communicate the center brand internally and externally. This position will coordinate and perform front office reception functions and serves as the primary center contact. In addition, this position will manage conference rooms, coordinate and effectively manage center events and meetings, and act as a liaison to the College of Engineering (CoE), University, and industry partners. This position will use substantial judgement and independent decision-making authority when acting on behalf of the Director and leadership structure, as well as establish procedures and work processes based on established standards of customer service. This position will provide support to center program operations and manage communications on behalf of the center. This position will assist in the creation of marketing materials and maintain accurate website and social media content. This role will assist the Director and Associate Director with various research and leadership tasks, assist in coordination of national and international travel itineraries, coordinate access to SIMCenter space and facilities, and manage software requests. This position will manage general center metrics, demographics, databases, center lists, and stakeholder information, as well as coordinate community building initiatives. This position will assist in organizing and coordinating space renovations, perform general administrative and clerical duties, and supervise student workers.
Success in this role will require enthusiasm for coordination and administrative business support in a fast-paced, technical research center. This will require a desire and aptitude to learn quickly and continue to develop and adapt to changing unit needs, while ensuring compliance within University policies and procedures.
