United States Steel is looking for a Network Operations Analyst in Pittsburgh. The US Steel Network Operations Center (NOC) is the central location from which a variety of networks, systems, and applications are monitored, administered, and maintained.
The primary role of the NOC Analyst is to provide timely response to all system and network outages, incidents, and alerts. The Analyst will, with a range of tools, monitor LAN and WAN status and devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, servers, mainframes, voice systems, and applications. Incidents will be promptly addressed, and either resolved or directed to the appropriate technical support group. Mainframe job processes and ABENDs will be handled according to the provided documentation. The NOC Analyst will interact with USS employees and management for incidents and service requests, as well as 3rd party network and service providers, opening and monitoring tickets where necessary and adhering to established SLAs.
Provide rapid and skilled response to all incidents, alerts, and outages. Categorize incoming issues, and direct to the appropriate resource for resolution
Create, modify, and update documentation, knowledge base articles, and procedures for use by the NOC team and other interested groups.
Collect and create performance reports for various components, reporting trends in systems and networks
Initiate mainframe scripts, chores, and other tasks under the direction of technical support
Open tickets with 3rd party service providers in response to incidents/outages. Monitor progress and escalate as required
Perform all job functions in a 7x24 shift-based environment
2 to 4 years experience supporting and monitoring network systems, servers, and applications in an enterprise environment
Previous NOC experience is strongly preferred
Experience in a z/OS mainframe environment with JES2 and JES3, familiarity with ISPF and JCL
Understanding of TCP/IP and basic network architecture is preferred
Familiarity with monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Omegamon, NETFLOW is a strong plus
