WHO WE ARE?
Georgia Energy Cooperative (GEC) is a member-owned, not-for-profit power supply cooperative with headquarters in Tucker, Georgia. GEC is owned by cooperatives with a common vision and a strong commitment to traditional cooperative principles. GEC provides long-term power supply services by procuring future energy resources, managing power supply contracts, and planning for future energy needs on behalf of its 15 Member EMCs. GEC currently has 1,800 MW of capacity under its control and annual sales of 6,500 GWh.
Our purpose is to provide a cooperative structure that allows Members to aggregate their loads for power supply purposes, to represent the common interest of its Members, to share their benefits and risk with a commitment to communicate, work together, and reach consensus.
IS THIS YOU?
Has the desire, insight, and vision to develop, secure, implement and manage Power Supply contracts for the Coop’s member Cooperatives.
Has a minimum of 10 years of experience in Power Supply Administration, energy contract administration, negotiation and execution.
Has demonstrated experience in risk mitigation, contract enhancement and contract optimization.
Understands the distribution Coop business model with at least a working knowledge of the G&T structure in Georgia to include OPC/GTC/GSOC, to the extent necessary to initiate, direct, review and analyze various types of studies necessary for system regulation, maintenance and operation, financial management and business development.
Has working knowledge of Power Generation, particularly in regards to GE turbines.
Has the ability to translate, develop and establish goals compatible with the general courses of direction set by the Board of Directors. Has the ability to establish specific short and long-range targets that are achievable.
Has strong skills in the areas of management, financial analysis, and business relations.
Holds a BS degree in Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics or other fields of study appropriate to the electrical utility industry. Advanced degree is preferred. Additional advanced training in utility management or Power Supply Administration is highly desirable.
Able to relay information to a variety of groups including boards, directors, staff personnel, auditors, vendors and the public both in verbally and in written form.
Available to travel occasionally to visit with member Cooperatives, Strategic Partners, Lenders, and others.
All other job related duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.
