The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Merced invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. A Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related area at the time of appointment is required. Exceptional candidates in all areas of mechanical engineering will be considered, with preference given to those with expertise in: surface science and technology, renewable energies, or intelligent machines for industrial and agricultural applications. He/she will conduct independent research, advise undergraduate and graduate students, and collaborate with other UC Merced faculty and research staff. Post-doctoral or other post-graduate experience is desirable but not required. We are particularly interested in attracting academically and culturally diverse candidates, especially those who can contribute to the growing diversity and excellence of the community through their teaching, scholarship, and service.
