About the Position: The Capital Programs and Facilities Management Department is committed to planning, developing, and maintaining a safe, sustainable, and high quality learning and working environment for the campus community. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as a Sustainability Specialist (Administrative Analyst/specialist-Exempt I. The Sustainability Coordinator works to establish Cal State Fullerton as a leader in the field of sustainability at the state, regional, national, and international level by promoting broader awareness of Cal State Fullerton's environmental successes and accomplishments. The coordinator effectively works with all elements of the campus community to communicate and further the goals and initiatives of the campus sustainability goals and establish and maintain an effective communication strategy, developing and coordinating education and outreach programs in support of Cal State Fullerton's sustainability, energy management, and resource conservation programs.
This position provides expertise and advice in the coordination of on - and off - campus resources to successfully implement reduction of Cal State Fullerton's resources and consumption as well as develop, implement and evaluate sustainability events and supervise pilot projects to expand sustainability on campus. The Sustainability Coordinator provides support to the Physical Plant in designing, developing and promoting campus sustainability initiatives. The Sustainability Coordinator represents Cal State Fullerton's sustainability programs to the public by attending professional meetings and interfacing with external organizations. The incumbent promotes Cal State Fullerton's sustainability program by utilizing campus expertise, peer institution best practices, sustainability literature, and conferences. The Coordinator works with Cal State Fullerton departments to evaluate current practices against accepted sustainability evaluations and facilitate the development of sustainability goals. This position coordinates departmental communications with the Communications Specialist for Capital Planning and Facilities Management. Other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications: Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university and/or the equivalent training and administrative work experience involving the study, analysis, evaluation, development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices or programs plus two years of related experience.
Working knowledge of and the ability to apply standard theories, principles, practices, and techniques applicable to the program or administrative specialty to develop conclusions and make recommendations. Thorough knowledge of policies, procedures, and outside regulations pertaining to the applicable program or administrative specialty. Working knowledge of operational and fiscal analysis and techniques. Ability to take initiative and plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved. Skilled in research, development, and evaluation of policies and programs. Ability to collect, evaluate, and interpret data to develop sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations. Expertise investigating and analyzing problems with broad administrative impact and implications. Ability to anticipate problems and address them proactively. Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret, organize, and present information and ideas in written or presentation form. Ability to train others on new skills and procedures and provide lead work direction.
