Qualifications: Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or closely related engineering discipline (must have attained the degree by January 2019) with at least one degree (B.S. or M.S.) in Chemical Engineering. The applicant must have at least one year of post-doctoral work or equivalent industry/academia experience. The applicant must have demonstrated research success with priority given to research expertise in bioprocess/biochemical/biomolecular engineering, or materials processing, or research related to renewable energy. A research plan incorporating both experiments and computational work is preferable. The applicant must be committed to teaching and research activities of the highest academic and professional caliber, and maintain a student-centric approach, thus contributing to the development of students as productive, responsible, and caring citizens of the world. Applicants must have a strong commitment to: (a) teaching and working with a diverse population of students at the undergraduate and Masters levels, (b) teaching core and elective undergraduate and Masters-level Chemical Engineering courses, (c) curricular development to complement and further advance the current curriculum, (d) laboratory development that will enhance the quality of education and research opportunities provided to the students, (e) development of externally funded research program, and dissemination through peer-reviewed publications, and (f) should have awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching and other comparable experience. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter, have excellent written and oral communications skills, and be a team player.
Responsibilities: Candidate must address the needs of a student population of great diversity – in age, cultural background, ethnicity, primary language, and academic preparation – through course materials, teaching strategies, research activities, and advisement. A faculty member is expected to collaborate in instruction, student and industry projects, research, and advising. A faculty member is expected to contribute to shared governance within the Department, the College, and the University.
Salary Range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience. Starting Date: August 2019 Eligibility: Employment is contingent upon proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
