Postdoctoral research associate or more senior positions are available in the Particle Astrophysics group at Princeton University for experimental research, one on solar neutrinos and one on dark matter. The research is conducted under the direction of Professor F. Calaprice, The solar neutrino program is based on measurements of solar neutrinos with the Borexino solar neutrino detector. Borexino has successfully completed measurements of pp, pep, 7Be, and 8B neutrinos, and is currently focused on measuring CNO neutrinos. The dark matter research is concentrating on a search for dark matter signals by developing two low-background NaI(Tl) crystal detector arrays- SABRE North which is currently being deployed at the Gran Sasso underground laboratory in Italy, and SABRE South, which will be deployed in Australia in the SUPL underground laboratory.
The positions are one-year appointments, with the possibility for renewal up to three years contingent upon satisfactory performance and continued funding. The successful candidates must have a doctorate degree in Physics or related discipline and should have experience in design, operation, and data analysis of low background detectors for particle and nuclear physics.
