As a Business Analyst, you will provide an expert understanding of the AER solution landscape and be responsible for business analysis deliverables associated with projects in the IS branch. You will be a hands on top level contributor , collaborating with business and IS teams to produce an optimal business solution that fits business needs.
You support a full project life cycle, including design, build, QA, implementation, and operations. Specifically, you define the scope of a project, gather and document business and technical requirements, communicate these requirements to sponsors, stakeholders and project team members, verify that the implemented solution meets the requirements, and test the solution to validate project objectives. You will act under general direction as a member of a project team responsible for providing technical guidance concerning business implications of the application of various systems.
Providing Enterprise business analysis to support initiatives from business groups with Enterprise Solutions.
Creating business process documentation with business stakeholders.
Information gathering for process improvement.
Ensuring business benefits / value is identified and accompanies business client requests.
Providing advice and recommendations to enable sound business decision.
Gathering business requirements and development of business rules and information flows.
Working with Project Managers to ensure business domain issues are tabled and addressed with sound solutions in a timely manner.
Coordinating User Acceptance Testing as required.
Creating training documentation as required.
Detailed and documented knowledge transfer to designated AER staff person(s).
Providing continuous improvement of the AER Business Analysis standards.
A post-secondary Degree in a related discipline with a minimum 7 years experience as Business Analyst.
Certification of Competency in Business Analysis (CCBA) or Certified Business Analysis. Professional (CBAP) would be considered an asset.
Experience in a business systems analyst position in large and complex projects.
Strong sense of accountability - strong personal initiative; can-do attitude; self-motivated to do his/her best to get things done.
Strong demonstration of team work; ability to work with diverse teams in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
Experience in Alberta Oil and Gas Industry and/or a Regulatory Environment.
Knowledge of Oil and Gas business process and information.
Business Process Analysis.
Solid understand of project management, able to work with project managers, technical resources and business users.
Additional skillset requirements:
Attention to detail, conceptual modeling skills, bring value to the process of change management, risk assessment, building relations and teamwork.
Leadership skills - Ability to manage / lead group of resources to complete tasks.
Communication skills - ability to communicate effectively and clearly in writing and verbally
Technical writing skills - ability to assist in writing technical documents such as design documents, context diagrams, test scripts, support documentation, etc.
Strong problem solving abilities.
Some travel may be required (25%).
Under the AER’s Classification Framework this position is a SP3, Level 5
