The Director of the Professional Development Center is a full-time, year-round position that will serve the entire college. The Director will be a thought leader on campus regarding professional development and how to best support the development needs of faculty, staff, and supervisors. S/he will administer an annual needs assessment and advise the Senior Leadership team regarding its findings. The Director will partner with faculty and staff, and collaborate with offices on campus that offer professional development. The Director ensures a range of training, workshops, and other professional development opportunities that include a mix of reoccurring and new offerings on an annual basis. The Director is responsible for ensuring full use of the Professional Development Center both by offering programming and by encouraging use of the Center as an ideal workspace for collaborative projects. S/he will work with the Dean of Institutional Effectiveness to ensure needs assessment and evaluative tools produce valid and reliable results. The Director performs administrative tasks associated with department activities and maintains departmental strategic goals, relevant data, and assessments, communication plan, policy and procedure manuals, reference and training materials.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Serve as the college thought leader on professional development and champion its critical importance to the growth of the college and all faculty and staff.
Develop and oversee professional development programming for faculty and staff.
Develop and contribute to community building activities that enhance the work life of all faculty and staff.
Develop a mechanism for annual needs assessment of the college’s professional development needs.
Conduct the needs assessment annually and advise the senior leadership team on its findings.
Draw on both internal talent and external experts to provide programming.
Lead the daily operations of the Professional Development Center (PDC).
Conduct regular and periodic trainings on use of the Center’s digital collaborative tools.
Extend PDC programming to Canton and Middleborough as possible and appropriate.
Collaborate with other college offices that offer professional development: Human Resources, Office of Diversity and Inclusion, IT, Instructional Technology, and Disabilities Services.
Manage the PDC budget and track and monitor expenditures.
With the assistance of the Grants Office, pursue external funding opportunities
Participate in development and administration of campus policies and procedures.
Convene and lead the PDC Advisory Board.
Duties include all instructional sites.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Master’s degree in education, adult education, organizational development, or a related field.
Three (3) years of experience teaching and/or training.
Experience in roles of project leadership/coordination.
Familiarity with current trends in professional development as related to higher education.
Experience with technology platforms used in higher education.
Demonstrated commitment to the community college mission, diversity, and inclusion.
Commitment to serving differing employee and departmental needs in a complex organization of faculty, staff, and students.
Project leadership that is collaborative, inclusive, and able to help groups navigate disagreements.
Project leadership that is both respectful of process and results-oriented.
Demonstrated commitment to the community college mission, diversity, and inclusion.
Excellent personal, communication, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Basic mastery of Microsoft Office

Position Status: This is a full-time non-unit position
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday; requires some early mornings, nights and weekends
Salary/Benefits: Salary range: $68,223.00 - $88,689.00. Salary dependent upon qualifications and experience, full benefits, non-unit professional.
