As our Assistant Track & Field/Cross Country Coach you will be responsible for coaching student athletes at team practices, games, and other events. Under the direction of the Head Coach, you will be responsible for providing assigned student athletes with academic advising and assistance as well as monitoring student athlete academic progress and eligibility.
Responsibilities include: Coordination of all Sprint and Hurdle events; Providing team and one-on-one Track and Field/Cross Country student athlete coaching; Assisting Head Coach and student athletes with meet planning, individual student-athlete instruction, team meetings, evaluation and review of team videos; Assisting Head Coach with team retreat and team instructional activities during road trips; Assisting student athletes with athletic and academic affairs; Providing student-athletes with academic advising assistance; act as resource and referral for student athletes for academic issues; Monitoring academic progress and eligibility of Track and Field/Cross Country student athletes and providing updates and reports as requested to Head Coach; Meeting weekly with assigned players; In compliance with NCAA recruiting rules, assisting head coach in identifying, evaluating and contacting potential prospects; conducting in-person athlete evaluations; conducting videotape evaluations; researching and obtaining required academic verification information; Developing relationships with assigned prospects through direct personal contact, phone and letters; Traveling on recruiting trips as requested by Head Coach; Coordinating prospective athlete campus visits; Assisting with Track and Field/Cross Country team scheduling; Managing and completing office duties related to Track and Field/Cross Country team, such as general correspondence and phone calls; Under guidance from Head Coach, assisting in coordination of team travel, including meals, lodging and transportation; Participating in all coaches meetings, attending and participating in Athletic Department meetings and other committees and meetings as requested by Head Coach; Participating and assisting in the coordination of team public relations activities; Assisting Athletic Director and other athletics personnel with projects and assignments
Minimum of seven years of experience in Track & Field coaching, including three years of collegiate coaching
Coaching experience in primarily sprint and hurdle events, and secondarily all field events
Ability to promote excellence and positivity in a diverse team environment
Current Strength & Conditioning Certification
Current CPR First Aid Certification, and AED Certification
Cross Country and Track & Field Management Experience
Collegiate recruiting experience
Knowledge NCAA Division II policies, and ability to quickly learn GNAC policiesValid driver’s license
A clear prioritizing of student-athlete well-being and a commitment to putting the student-athlete experience first
Experience using Front Rush recruiting system
Successful experience communicating consistently and clearly with athletes, coaching staff, and administration
