Under general supervision of the Global Product Stewardship Manager, provide leadership and technical support in the area of Product Stewardship for the organization. The goal of these programs and processes is to ensure the safe management and assessment of Cabot Microelectronics Corporation (CMC) products as well as compliance with global chemical control laws and regulations. Failure to achieve results and crucial objectives will have profound impact on continuity of operations, company image and will result in expenditure of substantial resources to resolve.
Primary Responsibilities (Primary responsibilities estimated to be 75% of total.)
Ø Manage all aspects of CMC’s SDS Program including authoring (i.e. GHS Classification) of new SDS’s; updating existing SDS’s due to regulatory changes, etc.; oversee SDS translation activities; and CMC’s SDS Management System (Process Map).
Ø Provide EHS support for CMC’s New Product Introduction process to ensure EHS aspects of new products are identified, assessed and effectively managed thru the applicable product development stages.
Ø Manage EHS information and content for CMC product labels including GHS classification and content.
Ø Ensure compliance with EU REACH including substance Pre-Registration, Classification and Registration activities; and SIEF participation.
Ø Ensure compliance with Globally Harmonized System (GHS) requirements including monitoring of global adoption; assessing impact to CMC; and managing SDS and label requirements.
Ø Effectively manage regulatory changes or impacts to CMC’s SDS program globally.
Secondary Responsibilities (Secondary responsibilities estimated to be 25% of total.)
Ø Provide support for Pads Business. Serve as primary point of contact for all customer related EHS documentation requirements. Help manage EHS related issues for pad operations.
Ø Conduct applicable training of employees related to SDS/Labels, New Chemical Introduction process, etc.
Ø Provide support to CMC’s New Chemical Introduction (NCI) program and Management System (Process Map).
Ø Provide support related to the implementation and adoption of new EHS regulations, customer EHS requirements, etc.
Ø Provide support to CMC’s Supplier Management program activities thru supplier EHS audits; EHS scorecards; and New Vendor EHS Assessments.
Ø Provide support to ensure CMC products are properly classified for Dangerous Goods (HazMat) shipping as well as assisting in packaging selection and product testing.
Ø Provide support to for ISO14001 and OHSAS 18001 management systems.
Ø Experience in the management of SDS’s and Labels including authoring, interpreting and applying regulatory requirements globally (U.S., EU, Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan).
Ø Experience with the following regulations: EU REACH; GHS (Globally); and Dangerous Goods.
Ø Familiarity with global chemical control laws for U.S, EU, Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan.
Ø Basic familiarity with ISO14001 and OHSAS 18001 preferred.
Ø Experience- 5 to 7 years in Product Stewardship related program management.
Ø Behavioral – Self directed, ability to work with limited supervision, good written and oral communication skills. Must maintain professionalism and flexibility while working under pressure of deadlines and dealing with ambiguous situations. Must be able to develop solid working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Must be able to interact effectively in multicultural situations which include coverage of nonstandard work hours.
Ø Business/Managerial- Skills in project management required. Strong organizational skills required. Ability to establish timelines and meet deadlines a must. Strong negotiation and persuasion/influence skills required.
Ø Computer - Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Lotus Notes.
Preferred (Not Must Have) Requirements
Ø Project management, team organization & building, problem recognition & solving.
Ø Computer – Knowledge of on EHS regulatory database systems.
Ø CSP or CIH credential preferred.
Ø AIHA Registered Specialist: SDS and Label Author
Ø Reports directly to the Global Product Stewardship Manager.
Ø Significant interaction and collaboration required with the global SH&E Team as well as CMC employees globally.
Ø Limited interaction with other external parties such as government inspectors, emergency response agencies, building management, etc.
Occasional travel may be required.
Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health; Environmental Health, Toxicology, Chemistry or related field.
Additional Salary Information: Annual short-term incentive (bonus) based on company performance.
