CBRE Heery seeks a HSE Manager for a large aviation program in Salt Lake City, UT.
The purpose of this position is to implement and manage HSE (Health, Safety and Environmental) programs relative to a large national/international corporate account or market area.
Will be responsible for assuring safety compliance throughout all levels of the construction program.
Will attend regular meetings and perform site visits to verify Health and Safety control measures are in place.
Will review all Contract Documentation relating to Health and Safety requirements and advise any changes required to maintain a safe environment.
Will review contractor Safety Programs along with a description of the hazards peculiar to the scope of work and make any recommendations required to maintain a safe working environment. Will participate in preconstruction and pre-activity meetings with contractors to ensure compliance with ARP Construction Safety Program.
Will monitor the construction program and look ahead schedules and inform parties of any unacceptable risks and recommend actions to reduce risks and ensure that all Consultant and Construction personnel are issued and wear the relevant Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and that these individuals and any visitors to the site are provided relevant information and training to maintain their safety.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages HSE programs and initiatives to meet regulatory requirements and HSE needs of a client account(s). Evaluates new and existing programs to assess suitability and the need for changes.
Monitors injury, illness, and incident related performance within the account, market area, or other assigned area of responsibility. Monitors performance for trends or other indicators of improving or degrading incident performance and develops and implements strategic solutions that will improve the performance results as required.
Manages, develops and implements HSE programs and initiatives to meet regulatory requirements and HSE needs of the client account.
Oversees HSE plans, playbooks, and procedures for the account, market area, or assigned area of responsibility. Ensures information is current, complete and effectively implemented.
Monitors HSE (Health and Safety and Environmental) regulatory compliance within the account, market area, or assigned area of responsibility. Communicates all findings, concerns, and deficiencies to the responsible managers to effect timely and necessary corrections. Assist in the development and implementation of strategic solutions that will support management's efforts to improve and maintain compliance as required.
Assists in identifying in opportunities to reduce costs while enhancing quality of services for a client/account.
Promotes safety consciousness among employees by providing accurate and informative data, conducting safety meetings, giving timely feedback, on safety suggestions and visibly supporting the safety program(s).
Acts as a resource to staff and employees as an HSE subject matter expert. Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in an engineering or construction related discipline or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, certification, training, skills, knowledge, and abilities.
Candidates must have a minimum of seven (7) years of progressive work experience in the Health and Safety field.
Experience on aviation capital improvement projects of $200 million or greater in value is preferred.
The candidate must have demonstrated experience in a leadership position in Health and Safety Programs and preferably certification or membership/affiliation with a professional safety related organization.
Candidate should have completed various OSHA Training programs including 10 hour and 30 hour.
Candidates must have a successful track record in risk management, conflict resolution; have a positive attitude; work well under pressure and a propensity for collaborative teamwork.
CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES
As required by local authority (if required). Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM), Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST) - Preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information.
Ability to respond effectively to sensitive issues.
Requires advanced knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and commissions. Conducts advanced financial analysis.
Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires advanced analytical and quantitative skills.
