WACKER POLYSILICON is the global leader in the production of hyperpure polycrystalline silicon for the photovoltaics, solar and semiconductor industries. At our Charleston, TN site, we are currently looking for a(n) Director Regulatory Affairs & Quality Performance, reporting to the Vice President & Site Manager, Charleston Site and the WCC Senior Director Corporate Regulatory Compliance & IMS.
This position is responsible for leading, coordinating, developing, and maintaining an effective Integrated Management System for Charleston EHSS and Quality organization, with focus upon policy, programs and procedures, to ensure compliance with US State and Federal codes and regulations, ISO standards, and WACKER regulations. This includes compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Plan (RMP) standards and programs. Monitor business operations to identify opportunities and improvements to reduce risk to compliance and secure business. Provide coaching and training for personnel. Monitor new and revised regulations, codes, industry and professional standards, internal policies, provide recommendations and lead the implementation of improvements.
Your Tasks • Lead and manage Safety, Environmental, Fire Brigade, Security, Medical Services, and Quality Departments. • Support the vision to be the Leader in the POLYSILICON industry and ensuring that priorities are set in regards to safety and quality. • Ensure EHSS compliance with all local, State and Federal codes and regulations as well as all WACKER internal requirements. • Monitor new and revised regulations, codes, industry and professional standards, and internal policies; effectively communicate changes, recommend necessary actions, and support implementation. • Evaluate business operations to identify hazards and risks, and continuously drive improvement of EHSS and Quality performance. • Responsible for the development, enhancement, and maintenance of POLYSILICON programs and assuring all compliance issues are effectively and timely managed. • Track key quality metrics such as product quality, customer complaints, non-conforming product, etc.; through a structured approach. • Interface with vendors on quality related issues as needed. • Operate within quality standards and specifications. Monitor and develop Quality Systems that continue to meet emerging industry trends. • Drive EHSS initiatives including ZAP and WSP, including field presence by entire EHSS team. • Conduct plant wide quality meetings including review of quality metrics • Support continuous improvement by offering ideas and evaluating new processes equipment. • Ensure governmental relations (TDEC, TOSHA, TSFMO, Bradley County, other) are maintained and fostered. • Lead and support internal and external audits/inspections/customer visits. • Interact with regional and global WACKER EHSS & IMS functions • Manage operating costs within budget. • Provide coaching and training for personnel.
Your Profile KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED • Strong leadership, interpersonal and problem solving skills • Demonstrated ability to work independently or with groups of people / teams in a complex changing environment • Strong organizational and professional skills with extensive knowledge in quality management, tools and international standards • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, TDEC, TOSHA, TVA, and other agency regulations • Proficiency in PSM regulations & compliance • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and 14001 standards, knowledge of OHSAS 18001 standards • Hazard analysis/risk assessment capability • Excellent verbal and written communication with a proven background in producing quality metrics reports • Analytical and research capabilities. Ability to research and properly apply information without direct supervision. • Written and verbal communication and listening skills, including excellent persuasive skills • Proficient computer skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SAP, including the ability to quickly learn third party software
REQUIRED YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: • Minimum of 10 years chemical manufacturing experience, min 5 in a PSM covered process. • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a significant, management capacity, with experience in development and implementation of EHSS & Quality programs. • EHSS / Quality management experience
PREFERRED YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: • 15 years chemicals manufacturing experience managing with 10 years EHSS and Quality Management experience. • 10 years chemicals manufacturing experience in a PSM covered process.
REQUIRED EDUCATION (INCLUDING CERTIFICATIONS, ETC.): Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Chemistry, Physics, or other Engineering; Master's preferred
PREFERRED EDUCATION (INCLUDING PREFERRED FIELDS OF STUDY, CERTIFICATIONS, ETC.): Combination of BS and MS in Technical field (Engineering, Chemistry, Physics) and Environmental/Safety, EHSS and ISO certification(s)
