Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a System Administrator (LAMP Programmer) the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department. This position supports all data efforts associated with field management of the US DOE Industrial Assessment Center Program. The successful candidate will combine both a sound background in industrial energy efficiency and software tool development to maintain and further develop existing energy efficiency-related software tools associated with the US DOE Industrial Assessment Center Program (https://iac.university/). This position involves all levels of design configuration, implementation, testing, operation, and maintenance of computer-oriented systems and networks and specifically includes in database management, cyber security (to protect users' information), software development, and web development.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Develops information collection systems, databases and web platforms to host technical assistance activities
Creates customer facing software tools for promoting the uptake of industrial energy efficiency.
Maintains, develops, and ensures quality control of secure databases for housing information provided to the DOE by companies and centers engaging in DOE technical assistance activities.
Develops tools and web platforms to perform data quality control, extraction, and analysis for CAES and other researchers.
Uses applied technical background and experience on industrial energy efficiency and management (including ISO 50001) to develop and support related technical assistance activities. This knowledge should be applied to develop software products aimed at industrial end-users.
Communicates (orally and written) effectively with researchers, funders, IT personnel, and end-users.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer software, or other relevant technical field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
5 years of experience in software, database, and web-development
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated expertise in industrial EE (e.g., DOE qualified specialist in one or more systems)
Must have demonstrable knowledge of industrial energy efficiency concepts and practices to ensure the software tools, databases, and web platforms are technically accurate and appropriate for their intended audience.
Contributed to research reports and papers
5+ years of experience working on technical projects for the public sector
