Facilities Maintenance Program Coordinator - (180000KO)
University of Maryland Baltimore (UMB) is currently seeking a Facilities Maintenance Program Coordinator. Under limited supervision, the Facilities Maintenance Program Coordinator ("Coordinator") plans, coordinates and oversees activities and functions of the department's workplace health and safety program. The Coordinator works to ensure that goals and objectives specified for the program are accomplished in accordance with established priorities, time limitations, funding limitations or other specifications. The Coordinator is expected to function independently and exercise discretion to accomplish and improve the programmatic objectives.

Performs facilities inspections and assessments to identify immediate safety, security and aesthetic deficiencies and coordinates appropriate response to needs.
Assists in developing and documenting standard operating procedures throughout the department. Trains staff in standard operating procedures and work flow.
Assists in developing and coordinating emergency preparedness and response plans. Assists in the coordination of emergency preparedness and response plans with other departments (EHS, Police, Parking, etc.)
Investigates incidents of property loss and personal injury and prepares reports of findings and recommendations.
Assists with the coordination of facilities and infrastructure assessments and the collection and recordation of information related to long term capital renewal of facilities and facilities infrastructure.
Assists senior staff and program managers with aspects of workplace health and safety programs, such as equipment inspections, confined space entry, lockout/tag out, fall protection, scaffolding, forklifts, electrical safety and the use of monitoring equipment to evaluate exposure to noise, airborne contaminants, and physical hazards. An important function of the position is the management and curation of data in support of workplace safety program areas, as identified during health and safety surveys or monitoring activities.
Occasionally responds to incidents, providing assistance to workers and emergency responders as needed, coordinates assistance with EHS, and completes accident and incident investigations as assigned by program managers.
Provide outstanding customer service and to the campus community including delivery and assembly of supplies and equipment, and providing safety consultation with staff.
May supervise staff as needed in the completion of duties in assigned areas.
Performs other administrative and operational duties as required.
Education: Bachelor's degree required, preference for Bachelor's degree in occupational safety or in a scientific or engineering field.*
Experience: One (1) year related administrative/program experience required; 1 to 3 years of occupational safety experience in facilities or service sector preferred.
Other: Valid US driver's license.
*Consideration may be given for a unique combination of education and experience. Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to master computer software, including Microsoft Office Programs.
Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Interprets and understands written information and is able to listen attentively to verbal and non-verbal cues that lead to a deeper understanding. Ability to perform public speaking and deliver training to diverse
audiences/large and small groups.

Good organizational and time management skills and the ability to balance multiple assignments.
Interest in and ability to pursue and obtain professional credentials, such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds (e.g., ladders, instruments, fire extinguishers, etc.), climb ladders, and wear respiratory protection when applicable.
Willingness to work in a variety of work areas including those where hazardous materials are used,in confined spaces (e.g., tunnels, pits, etc.), at heights (e.g., ladders, roofs, scaffolding), on constructions sites, and in laboratory settings.
Ability to perform duties of the position in compliance with all requirements, regulations, and laws.
Ability to maintain high standards with the work being performed and maintain awareness with trends and influences.
Ability to assume personal responsibility for all outcomes; makes effective and timely decisions; and learn how to effectively use technology.

Hiring Range: Mid $40K to low $50K - Commensurate with education and experience
