1. This position leads the design process of small projects across campus. This includes coordinating and overseeing the work of a drafter and interior design, using Revit as the main tool for construction documentation. 4. The architect position will be responsible for estimating tenant infill and renovation projects within existing campus buildings during the scoping and estimating phase. Many of the buildings are historic, while others were built within the past 20 years. Please explain your experience and familiarity with estimating direct construction costs for projects that are design and built within commercial buildings.

Department Summary Campus Planning and Facilities Management (CPFM) is a vibrant department, which comprises five units, and approximately 270 employees: Facilities Services, Utilities & Energy, Campus Planning, Office of Sustainability, and Design & Construction. The units of CPFM strive to provide excellent customer service to the University of Oregon campus and operate with the highest professional standards, communicating and collaborating with customers to support the stewardship of the campus.
The Office of Design and Construction (D&C) works closely with Facilities personnel, faculty, and staff across campus to deliver successful, budget-conscious projects. Project sizes range from under $50,000 to over $100M. Project types include small departmental moves, interior renovations, new building construction, and many different types in between.
Position Summary The Production Architect will serve as the architect for the In-house Design and Planning group within Campus Design and Construction. The Office of Design and Construction is responsible for implementing all new and remodel construction to the UO Campus. This includes ground-up building installations as well as renovations and additions to existing space. This position will predominately focus on projects below $1 million that fall within the Design & Special Projects portfolio.
This position provides professional planning, design, construction administration, and estimating services for in-house small to medium capital construction projects including remodels, additions, alterations, and repair of State facilities. These projects are developed within Facilities Services, Design & Construction, and by campus departments; and vary in size and complexity with costs ranging up to $1M. The Production Architect facilitates the design process and the integration of campus users, involving Facilities services personnel to ensure complete participation on each project.
This position supervises three professional Design Associate positions that support all other groups within Design & Construction. This entails providing mentorship, managing workload, addressing personnel issues, conducting annual performance reviews and other similar supervisory functions.
This position determines and submits the final review/design of construction documents. This has the potential to impact the safety of employees, building inhabitants, students, and campus visitors. Incumbent will make decisions associated with construction types, finishes, durability, and cost. Additionally, this position makes decisions associated with leading a team of design professionals. This position provides the official stamping of drawings for permitting and construction.
Work is reviewed regularly by the Design & Special Projects Manager to ensure it is performed efficiently, safely, and meets both expectations and applicable requirements. A performance appraisal is conducted annually.
The Production Architect is responsible for understanding and applying a large spectrum of rules and regulations. This includes but is not limited to: ADA guidelines, local regulations, UO Design Standards and energy conservation laws as well as aesthetic requirements (e.g., ensures compliance to the State Building Preservation Act).
ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL This unit may provide essential services during times of emergencies and inclement weather. This position may be required to fulfill essential services and functions during these times.
Minimum Requirements • Bachelor's Degree of Architecture. • Five years of professional experience as an Architect. • Must be a Licensed Architect in the State of Oregon or eligible for license in the State of Oregon; must obtain licensing within 6 months of hire. • Experience with Autodesk Revit.

Preferred Qualifications • Two years experience designing projects in existing buildings. • Two years experience with implementing ADA and Universal Design Guidelines. • Two years experience with MS Project or similar project management software. • Two years experience with RS Means Costworks or similar construction estimating software. • Two years experience with SpecLink or similar specification software. • One year experience supervising staff or with lead work responsibilities.
